What We Collect
When you use Sovran Academy, we collect:
- Email address and display name (from account creation)
- Date of birth — month and year only (for age verification)
- Learning progress data — lesson completions, exercise scores, spaced-repetition card states
- AI conversation transcripts with your mentors (for educational continuity across sessions)
- Session and usage data — which features you use, when
What We Don't Collect
- Your real name (unless you voluntarily use it as your display name)
- Payment information (not applicable — platform is not currently paid)
- Location data
- Social media profiles or activity
How We Use Your Data
- Personalizing your learning experience — the adaptive engine, spaced repetition, and the Conductor use your progress data to guide what you study next
- Improving platform content and AI interactions over time
- Sending platform notifications if you opt in
- Verifying that you meet the age requirement (16+)
Third-Party Services
We use the following services to run the platform:
Supabase
Database and authentication hosting. Your data is stored on Supabase servers in the United States. Supabase stores data encrypted at rest and applies Row-Level Security so only you can access your own data.
Anthropic Claude API
Powers the AI mentors, evaluations, and personalized learning interactions. When you interact with a mentor or receive AI feedback, that conversation is sent to Anthropic's API for processing. Refer to Anthropic's Privacy Policy to understand how they handle API data.
Vercel
Hosts the web application. Standard request/response data passes through Vercel's infrastructure.
CoinGecko API & FRED API
Used to display real-time economic and market data in lessons. No user data is sent to these services.
Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you want your account and data deleted, email us at menjivarw818@gmail.com and we'll delete everything within 30 days.
Cookies
We use essential cookies for authentication, handled by Supabase Auth. These are required for the platform to function — without them you can't stay logged in. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.
California Residents (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to:
- Know what personal data we collect about you
- Request deletion of your personal data
- Opt out of the sale of your personal data — we don't sell data, so this is already satisfied

Minors
Sovran Academy is restricted to users 16 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If we discover an account belonging to someone under 16, we will delete the account and all associated data promptly.
Security
All data is encrypted in transit via HTTPS. Data at rest is encrypted by Supabase. We use Row-Level Security on all database tables, meaning your data is only accessible to your authenticated session.
Changes to This Policy
We'll update this policy as needed and revise the effective date at the top of the page. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
